I went to a montgomery gentry concert once and these white guys with cowboy hats ran off these african americans that went to the concert they yelled "don't ya'll know they sing the south is gonna rise again". What if white people were treated that way at a concert put on by african americans. Why do country music fans see color like that? It doesn't seem fair when country is supposed to be about america. African americans are as much a part of america as white americans, right or wrong? Music is for EVERYONE, but b/c certain music is often associated by culture, people will place a color or race on it just like they do with everything else in pop culture ("black" tv shows, "white" clothing designs, etc). It's ridiculous - my advice to you is to keep listening to the music you like: I enjoy everything from etta james to the white stripes to kanye west. I actually feel sorry for people who are so closed minded that they can't even enjoy a simple song or artist. Racism in the music industry is NOT limited to country music - there are many blacks who do not like talented artists like Eminem and Robin Thicke b/c they are white, that is also ridiculous, imo! In music, much like in life, some people try to fit everything into a catergory and if it doesn't fit, they will mark it as weird or not belonging - don't conform to that ideal, when it comes to music or anything else. P.S. I hate racism and discrimination. Where I live and went to school was crazy I didn't even think it existed anymore until I went to highschool. I grew up with always having black friends I never thought anything about it Until I went to highschool, then it was like everybody seperated themselves. It was like I could not longer talk to my old friends because I would be harrassed for trying to act "black" or if someone would be friends with a white person they were acting "white" And this was only a few years ago like 3."

Is there anything that can be done if the owner of a yahoo group no longer has access to it? In a Yahoo group that I belong to, the owner has not had access to his ID t hat runs the group for some time. Both he and m yself have tried to get in touch with Yahoo with no answer. I wouldn't mind taking over ownership of the group but there is no way to contact anyone about it.
He doesn't have access to the group at all as the owner and now his membership under that ID is set to bouncing. He didn't make anyone else moderators in the group. He was the only one with access. It's now a group with no mods or owner keeping an eye on it and it's getting jam packed with spam.
I'm still trying to find an answer to this question. I'm rather "passionate" about this group and it saddens me to see it so far gone. I feel it would be better to revive this group rather than inundate the directory with yet another group. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I believe that the only way a group can be "turned over" is to have the "owner" or top moderator quit and transfer Owner privleges of the group to you someone else--OR if he has assigned any moderators, and they have access to membership privledges, there is no need to transfer the group ownership. If I have a group that is very important, I usually give someone I trust implicitely Moderator Priveledges with the ability to do everything but Delete the Group.
If you have any moderator privledges in this group, with access to the full email addresses of your members:
You can make a copy of the all email addresses by clicking on the download link in tthe Members' area.
Or you can also export a copy of all Members' ID and Email addresses by clicking on export.
Then if you start a new group, you can transfer the current members over:
